National Trail Day in Jackson

There is a new hiking/biking trail that connects Indian Springs State Park , Dauset Trails Nature Center, and the City of Jackson. In all, there are over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails for the public to enjoy. We would love for you to join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony and 9:30 a.m., and then enjoy a hike or bike ride on the trails.

Following this morning event, we welcome you to join us for our Grand Opening at 1:30 p.m. at the Historic Butts County Courthouse on the square in Jackson. (The address is 25 Third St., Jackson, Georgia 30233). Following the Grand Opening, we will have a Stranger Things Bike Ride for Kids directly behind the square. This is the street where scenes from Stranger Things was filmed.

Walk/Bike/Places 2021

The premier conference in North America for walking, bicycling, and placemaking professionals from the public and private sectors.

Walk/Bike/Places strives to be the most informative and progressive active transportation conference in North America. Produced by Project for Public Spaces, the event consists of 50+ participant-led breakout sessions and locally-led workshops, as well as opportunities for experiential learning by walking and biking through the streets and other public spaces of the host city.

In 2020, due to complications related to Covid-19, the in-person event in Indianapolis had to be postponed to 2021, and the 2020 program was brought entirely online. Due to the success and increased accessibility offered by that shift, 2021’s event will take place in Indianapolis as a hybrid event so that participants can take advantage of the benefits of both formats and plan their schedules accordingly given the continuous challenges posed by Covid-19.

The hybrid program will feature general sessions, dozens of breakout sessions, locally-led mobile workshops, and social hours.
