Assail the Trail

Please plan to join TRED for the inaugural 5K trail run and 1-mile trail walk on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 9am at the GE Trails at Garrard Park to celebrate the 5th birthday of the GE Trails!  This unique run will benefit the GE Trails by providing funding to expand the trail system and provide maintenance to the existing trails. All runners and walkers will receive a TRED coffee mug and fun race swag and prizes will be awarded to the top 5K finishers for age groups and the top overall male and female finishers. The 1-mile walk is not timed.

TRED Walk and Talk

Walk and Talks: A monthly walking series to move and enlighten you. All walks begin at 9:30 a.m. and are between 2-4 miles in length. Please know your fitness level prior to attending and bringing water is encouraged. Walk is determined by weather so please check social media/website prior to walk.

On Nov. 11, Certified Optimize Coach Tom Hart will lead a walk starting on the north end of Ridge Ferry Trail focused on the seven habits of balanced living and how to incorporate them into your life. Park and gather in the State Mutual Parking Lot behind the Braves Stadium.

TRED Lunar Bike Ride

The much loved Lunar Bike Ride is back with a few changes! Bring the kids (and yourself) to ride the parking lot course or the trails at GE Trails at Garrard Park and test your bike handling skills in the Floyd County Police obstacle course. There will be food trucks, music, and a chance for kids to freely ride bikes in a safe environment.

Jane’s Walk Rome

Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, community-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs, a writer, urbanist and activist who championed the voices of everyday people in neighborhood planning and city-building.
The 2-mile casual walk, led by Senior Planner Brice Wood and TRED President Harry Brock, will focus on the unseen aspects of Broad and South Broad Streets and the ways they have evolved and adapted over the decades to remain relevant and purposeful. More information.

  • Assemble in the parking lot of the Coosa River Trading Post.
  • Two hiking options for social distancing purposes.
  • Don’t forget to wear your masks!
