Prison to Peanuts Bicycle Adventure

Join Sumter Cycling, the River Valley Regional Commission, Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, and Andersonville National Historic Site for the Prison to Peanuts Bicycle Adventure. We encourage riders of all levels and skills to join us on this amazing opportunity to visit beautiful sites in Sumter County, Georgia, and visit Americus, Andersonville and Plains by bicycle. No need for horse-power, just your-power! Prison to Peanuts will once again be in downtown Americus. All rides will start and end at Lenny’s Market (110 N. Hampton St.). We plan to provide lunch and peanut butter ice cream at the finish and hope you will stay and enjoy downtown Americus.

Plains, Trains & Bike Chains

Plains, Trains and Bike Chains is an annual event highlighting the historical town of Plains, the SAM Shortline train, and the beautiful scenic country roads that this part of Georgia has to offer. It is scheduled to occur the weekend of the big Plains Peanut Festival. Proceeds benefit local cycling initiatives in Sumter County.

For years it has included a popular 5k for which President Carter hands out the awards, a parade, food and more. And now it includes bicycle rides that showcase some of the beauty and history that our area has to offer. More information.

Sumter Cycling Ride & Annual Meeting

Learn about cycling initiatives to make the community an even better place to live or visit! Bicycle Ride at 10:30am with 5, 12, and 20 mile options. Lunch and meeting at noon. Ride participants enjoy complimentary lunch.
