The Walking College: Building the Local Capacity of the National Walking Movement
January 20, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm EST
This webinar will describe the Walking College and present research on community outcomes from this fellowship program, which is designed to build the capacity of local change agents to increase walking and improve walkability in their communities. During the 6-month course, Walking College Fellows study online materials, complete community assignments, take part in video discussion forums/coaching sessions, and develop a Walking Action Plan (WAP) with community goals and an implementation strategy. The results of an evaluation of the community impact of Fellows’ WAPs will be presented, documenting positive outcomes in categories including walking events/programs, public policy, and new infrastructure. Webinar speakers will include past Walking College Fellows, who will describe how the training they received and the national network of peers they acquired empowered these changes. More information.
