Plains, Trains, & Bike Chains

September 28

Plains, Trains, & Bike Chains is a bicycle ride held in conjunction with the Plains Peanut Festival in Plains, Georgia annually on the fourth Saturday of September.  Ride your bicycle to Plains from Georgia Veterans State Park (46 miles) or from Americus (14 miles), enjoy a great small-town festival, and then catch the SAM Shortline excursion train, Sumter Cycling’s shuttle, or your bicycle back to your start point.

This year a supported 100-mile route option has been added to celebrate President Carter’s 100th birthday! Riding your bicycle back totals 36, 68, or 100 miles. Ride those miles individually or as a team.

All riders must register and check in, including all members of teams. Registration includes event t-shirt, rest stops, peanut butter ice cream, and optional transportation back (while space available).
