Making Meaningful Spaces: A Brief Survey of Integrative Active Transportation

January 21, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST

The active transportation movement has been maturing for decades. Miles of bicycle and pedestrian facilities are on the ground for communities that embraced more livable, complete, and green streets. In the era of COVID-19 and rapid social change, communities are recognizing the necessity of prioritizing people rather than cars through rich and responsive public space design and community-based programs. This session will explore active transportation-related placemaking projects and programs throughout the world, some developed by the presenter and others that were researched and presented by students in an elective class at the University of Arkansas. Registration and more information.
