Saturday, 11 February, 9am, the Bean ride. 35/26. Meet/park at or near the Sentient Bean, 13 East Park Street, Savannah. Out-and-back routes, first to Bonaventure cemetery, then over to/through Thunderbolt, down to Sandfly, over to Burnside Island then back to Isle of Hope. Ride Leader: Kim Turner, 214-725-2490, kimbooskie@gmail.com.
Saturday, 25 February, 8am, Carlos Evans ride event. Carlos Evans, a medically retired Marine, will be visiting Savannah during the last week of February. Carlos is a triple amputee, who lost both legs and left hand when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan while leading a foot patrol. Carlos has ties to Savannah, and friends and those close to him want to hear his uplifting message about how he has learned he can “Touch Lives, Leave Footprints” even through his injuries. Carlos will ride his hand crank bike around Forsyth Park and speak with participants afterwards in Chippewa Square. Please try to put this on your schedule – you just may be moved like you have never been moved before. Ride starts/ends at Perry Rubber Bike Shop. There will be police escort, participation by city leaders.
If you want to do both events, please let me know so if you’re delayed, we can wait. Both events are close by and if you want to do both, it is encouraged!
