We’re only one month away from the 2nd Annual Georgia Bike Summit!
October 7th-9th, the 2011 Georgia Bike Summit offers a full weekend of bicycle advocacy, education, networking, fun, and fellowship.
This year’s host city, Athens, GA, is a newly minted League of American Bicyclists “Bicycle Friendly Community,” and we have a truly great schedule of events lined up for you in the “Classic City”:
Friday night (10/7), join us at the cLips of Faith VIP zone for pre-Summit socializing, New Belgium beer, and an outdoor film festival all about bikes, brews, and sustainability!.
Saturday (10/8), the 2nd annual Georgia Bike Summit takes place at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education on the University of Georgia campus. Our keynote speaker is Tim Blumenthal, Executive Director of Bikes Belong and a long-time national advocate for both on and off-road bicycle improvements. Summit sessions will cover a wide range of topics, from bike sharing programs to law enforcement training, GDOT updates, Safe Routes to School, and much more!
Saturday evening, bike over to Sunshine Cycles in downtown Athens for a New Belgium Happy Hour and raffle, then head a block over to Cine’ Bar- Café for SORBA’s movie night – our feature presentation is a mountain biking advocacy film, “Pedal Driven,” and we’ll have several inspiring shorts from Streetfilms, followed by more raffles for excellent prizes!
Stick around through Sunday morning to join in a number of bike group rides around beautiful Athens, GA!
